Maria Leger

Originally from Denmark, Maria moved to Maryland in 2011 with her husband and their three children. That same year, a fateful moment at a company Christmas party changed everything. After spending the night dancing, someone asked if she was a Zumba instructor—though she’d never even heard of Zumba before. By May 2012, she became one.

Maria began her journey at Curves in Glenelg, teaching 30-minute classes. In 2014, she took over a Zumba business in Clarksville, where she led four classes per week for the next decade. During that time, she also brought her passion for Zumba to Brickhouse Cardio club in Ellicott City and the Chinese School in Columbia.

Maria is thrilled to have joined the team at Freedom Fitness. 

When she’s not dancing, you’ll find her dog sitting or expressing her creativity as an artist.
